Domain names

A domain name is the main part of a web address (www.thephone.coop for example) - you choose what you want after the www, and then decide which top level domain you need (a top level domain, or TLD, is the last part of the address - .com, .uk, .tv, .coop etc)

We can register over a dozen types of domain, though some, like .coop, .ac.uk and .gov.uk are only available to certain institutions.

Shared hosting

From £6 a month

Once you've got your name and built your site, you'll need a server to keep it on, so why not use one of ours?

Most servers are large enough to host more than one site - this is called shared web hosting. The server is connected to a very high speed internet line, so there is plenty of bandwidth to make sure they can all be displayed when needed.

Dedicated hosting

If your website is very large, or attracts a very high number of visits, you may need all the bandwidth you can get, in which case you won't want to share it with other sites.

In this case, you need a dedicated hosting package. We have a number of Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting packages available from just £45 per month where you lease a single virtual server and bandwidth for your site alone, and we take care of things like software updates; or a co-location option, where you just rent the space and bandwidth needed for a server, but provide the server and look after everything yourself.
