Setting up your BlackBerry

Take the pain out of setting up your phone for e-mail and internet access. Just register it with BlackBerry, and everything will be ready.

A BlackBerry Internet Service account can be associated with up to ten Internet service provider e-mail accounts. The BlackBerry Internet Service supports :

  • Most Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3) accounts.
  • lnternet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) accounts.
  • Microsoft Outlook Web Access / Microsoft Exchange.
  • Online accounts, including Windows Live Hotmail, Google Mail, and Yahoo! Mail.

You can register online or on your phone.

Online

To register your handset, first go to http://mvno.blackberry.com on your computer, and create a new account. You will need your device’s PIN and IMEI numbers, both of which can be found on the box your phone came in, or your phone’s Status menu.

Once your phone is registered, go to Email accounts from the left hand menu, then Set Up Email to register an address. It’s that simple! Your BlackBerry Smartphone can now send and receive e-mail, and browse the web.

On your phone

Setting up your BlackBerry for email is easy, just follow these steps:

  • Press the Menu button.
  • Scroll to Setup and press the Trackball.
  • Scroll to Setup Wizard and press the Trackball.
  • Scroll to Email setup and press the Trackball.
  • Follow instructions on your phone to complete email set up.

If you have any problem getting your BlackBerry online, it may be because your handset’s Service Books are out of date. Log into the http://mvno.blackberry.com website on your computer, then go to Help, and click on Send Service Books to get the latest versions sent to your phone.
