2017

2015

2014

  • The Phone Co-op in partnership with The Co-operative Group launch its first own-brand Pay As You Go (PAYG) SIM card.

2013

  • The Phone Co-op was accredited as a Living Wage Employer. We are now one of the few organisations in the UK's telecommunications sector to have this recognition and we're leading the way in West Oxfordshire.
  • In July 2013 the partnership between The Phone Co-op and Community Network was formed. The new partnership opened up new opportunities for both organisations. 

2012

  • In September 2012 we adopted The Co-operative brand. We remain a fully independent co-operative, using the brand under licence. We believe that by participating in The Co-operative brand, which benefits from a high level of recognition, trust and public respect, we will be in a position to reach far more customers, allowing us to increase our impact in an increasingly competitive industry.

2011

  • In May 2011, the Federation of Communication Services awarded us Reseller of the Year at their annual awards ceremony.

2010

  • In September 2010 we acquired Saga Telephone Service's customer base, welcoming 8000 new customers to The Phone Co-op.

2008

  • In 2008 we were named Social Enterprise of the Year at the Enterprising Solutions Awards, and won the Best Customer Service category of the Green England Awards.

2003

  • In July 2003 the Internet Services Division was added in Manchester, taking the retail customers from the former workers co-operative Poptel. This has since been fully integrated with the rest of The Phone Co-op's activities.

1999

  • In August 1999, SETCO became The Phone Co-op and was converted to a Society incorporated under the Industrial & Provident Societies Acts.

1998

  • We were founded in 1998 in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire as SETCO (Social Economy Telecommunications Co-operative), providing cheaper telephone services to the 'third sector' by purchasing collectively.
