The ALT Group transforming the local community
The ALT Group are a Community Interest Company founded in 2015 and based in Consett, County Durham.
The organisation began as a group of friends who noticed their community, struggling financially and having difficulty covering daily food and energy costs; and individuals becoming isolated and lonely. They decided to start offering free activities to anyone in their local area, reconnecting people with each other and the environment around them.
Everyone is welcome to join their Community Meal, Community Garden and Quiet Time projects. Now a busy group of local volunteers they also tackle food waste and encourage food sharing through their Community Fridge and make better use of unused areas of land with their Transforming Projects improving the local area.
The ALT Group has community at their heart, fighting against loneliness and working towards building a better world. It is not surprising that when they were looking for a telecoms provider back in November 2017, they chose The Phone Co-op as the provider that shares their values.
"When we were able to find our first premises we searched for an ethical phone provider and came across The Phone Co-op. We were delighted to find a great solution that is in line with our ethics and principles. Taking on our account was so easy and we are really grateful to receive £250 towards our bill which will be a huge help for us. We believe in people working together to create the change they want to see in the world and The Phone Co-op do just that!"
The ALT Group benefited from a £250 credit towards their telecoms bill thanks to our Enterprise fund.
